The Prisoner of Birth – Book Review

From the first page, Archer makes you turn pages. There is speed in the story. The plot is also a good one which makes you think of Archer going the Grisham way. But for me the most disappointing part was the courtroom. What could easily have been a great courtroom drama is just short of it. It does incorporate Archer’s routine of rags to riches story though.

For the regular readers of Archer, this is definitely not his best work. Personally I still regard ‘Not a penny more’ to be his best. And don’t go by the wordings at the back cover. There is no really ‘Mind blowing’ twist at the end. If you expect that, you are in for a disappointment.

On the whole it’s an interesting novel to read with a good storyline. This time the book is more detailed like a Forsyth book, because of Archer’s experience of the prison life.
